My Full Story
I grew up in a small town in western Nebraska in a place that was an hour away from the nearest city. The town was quaint and fostered a childhood of exploration into the natural world and also gave me the opportunity to embrace my imagination since there wasn't much to do in my hometown. I moved to the big city in second grade and was opened up to many new experiences that further expanded my wild and wicked imagination. Although to me, a big city was a city of 400,000 people. We moved again and finally settled into the home that I would call my family home all the way up through high school.

In high school, I was very active in all everything I could be in because my high school only had 70 people in it. I was the president of the Future Business Leaders of America club for two years, Editor and Chief of the Journalism Club for the Newspaper and Yearbook, Drum Major for my band, an active member of the National Honor's Society, a Varisty member of my Volleyball team and choir, and lead actor for my drama department. While my extracurriculars are impressive, art became an outlet for me to deal with the craziness of my life and to hone my emotions into something that could be impressive.

When the Dreamworks movie How To Train Your Dragon came out, I saw it with my mom in the theater. I watched the animation and knew that I wanted to create movies just like that. The impressive detail, the amazing lighting effects, I wanted to do that. Nebraska isn't known for animation or art in general. I went to google and did a deep dive into the schools that would be good to make this kind of dream possible and then I stumbled upon SCAD, a private school in Georgia, 1600 miles away from my home. I was nervous to tell my parents, but they were both super supportive, and then I began my journey into my career.

Going into SCAD, I didn't know how to do much and so when I did my first animation class, I was entirely overwhelmed and almost decided to give up. My professor was supportive and thought that maybe I should try technical animation. My mind is logical from all of the organizing I had to do during my highschool activities and of course she was right. Technical animation is just the thing that was perfect for me and so I've been pursuing my degree ever since.
